Mani - Patti

I finally got a chance to experience the latest craze in nail polish: the shattered look. Have you heard of it? You apply one coat of whichever nail polish color you choose and then apply a second coat of contrasting "Shatter" color to give your nails the following look:

So my daughter and I were excited to show Patti and her daughter, S, during our abrupt visit to their house yesterday. After Patti sees my new manicure, she says: "That's what my nails look like most of the time anyway!"

That reminds me of another nail polish story with her: It was Halloween and she wanted to polish her nails black but didn't want to spend a fortune on the polish since it would be only for fun. So she bought a discounted polish for .99 cents. When she showed me the end result, I was amazed at how vibrant the color was. "That looks awesome," I told her. "Not at all cheapy looking."
Her reply: "Are you kidding? I have like a thousand coats of this stuff on. Ninety-nine coats for .99 cents!!!"

That's Patti; and I love her for always keeping it REAL!!!

Hate Cycle: The time period during a marriage when you consider divorce, murder, or at least running away. Strangely occurs either right before or right after a particularly love-filled period.
ish: Add to end of any noun to convert to an adjective. Example: This spaghetti is so restaurantish.
Mommy Monologue: A speech given more times than anyone, including you, cares to recall, about the same daily things moms bitch about.
Mother Arm: The automatic bar a mother's arm forms across a passenger in her car when she is driving and suddenly hits the brakes. The passenger could be a grown man or even a bag of groceries; it doesn't matter.
Mother Sway: The rocking motion a mother automatically performs when holding a baby in her arms. This baby could be ANY baby: hers, her neighbor's, a puppy, a goat. If it is small and being held by a mother, it will be rocked.
P.I.T.A.: Pain In The Ass
The Shift: The slightest movement that occurs when a wife attempts to creep into bed so as not to wake her husband for fear of being forced to have sex when all she wants is sleep.
